Aishwarya Rai was born in Manglore, Karnadaka to Krishnaraj Rai and Brinda Raj.She has got an elder brother Aditya Rai. She did her all studies in Mumbai as her family shifted to Mumabai.While studying for Architecture she started modeling. In1994 biggest turning point of her career arrived. She won the Miss World title in that year, Eventough she was second in the Miss India title. After the title she got lot of opportunities to work in as a professional model and do some advertising work.

Aishwarya started her film career from Tamil film industry with Maniratnam film “Iruvar”.South Indian actor Mohanlal played opposite to her role. After it the actress got her first hit through Tamil as “Jeans” which was directed by Shankar.Aishwarya Rai’s role in the film was noted and appreciated. In 1999 came 2 successful films of her life was released “Taal” & “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”. After that came “Mohabbatein”, “Josh” & “Kandu Kondein Kandu Kondein” All of them were moderate success. In 2002 Aishwarya Rai got another break through from Sanjay Leela Bansali’s “Devdas” which was a major hit and it opens the actress’s Hollywood career. After this film the actress made her appearance in Cannes Film Festival.

In 2003 she was a jury member of the Cannes festival. In 2004 Aishwarya Rai’s foreign film was released, Bride and Pregudice.In the same year a wax figure of the actress was displayed in London’s Madame Tussuad’s wax museum. Her next film “Mistress of Spices” was not a commercial success. She also appeared in the closing ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth games in Melbourne. In 2006 her dance sequence in “Bunty Aur Bubli” was a huge hit. In 2006 she has two releases “Umaro Jaan” and “Dhoom 2” in which first one was a flop and the second one was a big hit.

Aishwarya Rai’s marriage with Abhishek Bachchan happened in the mid of 2007. It was one the biggest ceremony by publicity for a couple. Media has given a very wide range of publicity for their marriage. In 2007 her film “Guru” was released and was a big success. But her Hollywood film “The Last Legion” was not a success. Aishwarya Rai acted in almost 25 films in her career. She is the most valued female model in India. She got into some controversies with actor’s Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi.
