Short and petite, yet she has turned out to be Bollywood’s sex siren. She shot to fame with the movie Rangeela where she portrayed the character of Milli Joshi for which she won the nomination of Film fare best actress award. Matondkar, Urmila love for the silver screen began as a child where she acted in her first movie Masoom in 1983 and then her debut with Sunny Deol in Narasimha. Daring and bold as she was, she had instant fans who craved to see more of her on screen and Matondkar, Urmila love for them was instantly seen when she signed some of Bollywood’s sensuous masterpieces. She never thought she would enter the show business, all accidentally fell in place when someone suggested her name to N Chandra and the rest is history.

She was one of Bollywood’s most versatile actresses a seen in most of her movies like Judai, Bhoot, Satya and various others for she was nominated. Sexy as she was, Matondkar, Urmila love for acting didn’t stop with just good movies. She was awarded her first Filmfare Award for best performer for her role in Bhoot. Awards didn’t stop there and with better performances in every movie there was no stopping her. She won many nominations in some of the prestigious award ceremonies.

As an actress she knew she couldn’t give up her favorite hobby and Matondkar, Urmila love for dance was seen in her graceful yet sizzling moves onscreen. Directors loved her dancing that she even bagged a few item numbers. Her first item number was the Chamma Chamma sequence from the 1998 China Gate. With that performance she landed up with more offers than she could want.

Versatility came to her naturally and this was pretty evident as she soon changed from a sizzling sex bomb to a vamp. Matondkar, Urmila love for negative characters and vamp roles came across really strongly on screen in her movie Kaun, where the audiences were literally at the edge of their seats. Her first villain role was in Pyaar tune kya kiya where she played an obsessive villain. Praises showered her performance in the movie and she was soon seen signing her next vamp image in Kaun.

Being unique was what she believed in and Matondkar, Urmila love for creating her own style was definitely noticeable. She has even quoted saying "Frankly, there are only four types of films being made in the last 15 years. I don't think about how many times how many heroines have said 'I love you' to how many heroes on screen and that I am also doing the same. It is how differently I can say the same thing in my own style or how I can bring a new element into it.”. What followed next were 32 amazing movies from 1983 to 2003, some of which were major block busters.

With fame and popularity, rumors of Matondkar, Urmila love life with Ram Gopal Verma started to surface. This gave her career a jolt. The actress however maintained the fact that her relationship with Ram Gopal Verma was strictly professional and nothing else. The rumors never stopped there her alleged tiff with Sunil Shetty also became the centre of entertainment.

Work demanded more travel and that was something Urmila looked forward to as Matondkar, Urmila love for traveling and seeing new places was a dream fulfilled. She even performed in various countries leaving her die hard fans crazy. But there was one place that she would always want to go as Matondkar, Urmila love for New York City was magnanimous as she said she felt so home like back there. Despite many newcomers entering the Bollywood, Urmila manages her position well.
